Fewer adverse effects with new copper source

tue, 3 jul 2012
Copper is an important nutrient that fulfils a range of functions within the body. The common copper source in Mervit premixes and mineral mixes is copper sulphate. A new copper source, dicopper chloride trihydroxide, was recently registered in the EU as a feed additive for all animal species.

The availability of copper in dicopper chloride trihydroxide is higher than in copper sulphate. Dicopper chloride trihydroxide is by nature less hygroscopic and has a lower adverse effect on the stability in premixes than copper sulphate. Dicopper chloride trihydroxide has been incorporated into the standard Mervit PIGLETS 2230 premix.
